What does the end of eBay’s Trading Assistant program mean for my eBay consignment book?

eBay has retired their Trading Assistant program. In an upcoming post, I’m going to delve more into what I think that means for Trading Assistants who want to continue their business but, for now, I want to talk about something a little closer to home.

I’ve spent a large chunk of the last few years getting the newest edition of my book about running a Trading Assistant business, The Trading Assistant’s Assistant, ready for its November 2013 release. And while I suppose eBay’s timing could have been worse (such as if they retired the program the day after I released the book or something), this does leave me with a bit of a mess on my hands as now the entire book needs to be rewritten… again. (eBay actually made the last round of massive changes to the program mere weeks after the last edition of the book came out because they hate me. Or I just have terrible timing. Either or.)

So, what am I going to do, you ask? Well, as I mentioned on eBay Radio today, I’m going to take these lemons and make lemonade. Instead of hiding under my desk and crying over all that wasted work, I’m going to use this as an opportunity.

As I rewrite the book, every time I finish a section, I’m going to share it here on the blog. I’m going to aim to finish at least 1 a week but let’s assume it will be every other just to be safe. I’ve done snippets from my books from the past but mixed up and edited. This time I’m going to give you the entire book, in order, bit by bit, clearly marked. You’ll get to read the entire book for free long before it hits stores and get a say in the final product. All you need to do to take advantage is to subscribe to TheWhineSeller.com either via RSS or email.

And to sweeten the deal, I’ll be giving ebook and paperback copies away exclusively to subscribers throughout the process.

So you’ll get the content hot off the press well before the public and get to read the whole thing for free before it’s available for sale and I’ll hopefully get an increase in subscribers and readers to the blog. I’ll start blogging the book soon* but, in the meantime, you can subscribe ahead of time here so you won’t miss a thing.

*=I’m honestly just waiting until I see if we need to change the title or not.

Hang in there! I sell almost exclusively on consignment. We offer a great service to clients and customers, and I think whether or not there is an eBay directory is somewhat irrelevant.
