International insurance: To require or not to require (with all apologies to Shakespeare)

by | Apr 28, 2009 | eBay, Etsy and other Marketplace Selling, Ranting, Whining and Yelling at the Sky | 4 comments

To require or not to require, that is the question
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The dings and feedback of outrageous shipping charges
Or to take arms against a sea of customs troubles
And with insurance, end them.

What dost thou think?

I think USPS should include the price in ALL their international shipping prices. I have had several packages lost where I was told I am simply out of luck.

I have started limited the places to which I ship due to crabby international buyers who don’t understand that once an item leaves my hands at the USPS, I have no control over it.

Dinging my stars because their country takes forever to deliver an item isn’t going to do anything to help them, and only hurts me. For now, for me, Europe is out, and I am contemplating doing away with Germany too (not sure why eBay considers Germany not part of Europe, but whatever.)
